SJYBA is excited to announce that we will be making a change to our youth softball program next year. SJYBA has made the decision to enter the 12U (Major) and 14U (Major) recreation teams into an outside softball league next year to provide a better level of competition for our players. If your daughter is interested in playing 12U or 14U (Major) recreation softball for the 2023 summer season, please make sure to attend the workouts. If you are unable to attend the scheduled August workout, an alternate workout date will be set for September. Please read the below information concerning the2023 SJYBA travel and recreation softball programs: Tryout's for the 2023 Travel 12U team and Recreations 12U (Major) team- Updated: September 6th 6:00-7:30pm Field E. Eligible players will be 12 or under on December 31st 2022.Players that do not make travel will play Recreations 12U team in an outside league.(Please sign in 15 minutes before tryouts) Tryout's for the 2023 Travel 14U team and Recreations 14U (Major) team- Updated: August 30th 6:00-8:00pm and September 1st 6-8:00pm field E. Eligible players will be 14 or under on December 31st 2022.Players that do not make travel will play Recreations 14U team in an outside league.(Please sign in 15 minutes before tryouts)   Setting teams in the fall will allow us to begin practices as early as possible in the spring and have uniforms ordered and in hand prior to the season starting. We are also looking at setting up additional workouts and camps over the course of the winter to allow our softball players additional opportunities to learn and develop.

Baseball:

8u Travel open workouts: Field D - 8/20 and 8/27 5:00 - 6:30pm. Eligible players: 1st/2nd grade and must be 8 or under on April 30, 2024. (players will be evaluated for 8u 2024 travel teams at open workouts, sign in 15 minutes before workouts.)

9u Travel open workouts: Field C - 8/20 and 8/27 5:00 - 6:30pm. Eligible players: 3rd grade and must be 9 or under on April 30, 2024.  (players will be evaluated for 9u 2024 travel teams at open workouts, sign in 15 minutes before workouts. )

10u Travel open workouts: Field C - 8/20 1:00-3:00 and 8/27 6:30-8:00 . Eligible players: 4th grade and must be 10 or under on April 30,2024. (players will be evaluated for 10u 2024 travel teams at open workouts,sign in 15 minutes before workouts. )

12u All-Star team tryouts: Field A - 8/20 6:30-8:30. Eligible players: 5th/6th grade and must be 12 or under on April 30, 2024. We will play in MMPL League lower division 2024. The All-Star team will also play 1- 2 community based tournaments. Sign in 15 minutes before tryouts. Make up date tbd

14u All-Star teams tryouts: All previous season non-travel baseball players going into 7th and 8th grade, should attend this tryout if you plan on playing baseball in 2024. We need to determine numbers, if we will have 1 or 2 teams for 2024. Field B - 8/10 6:00 - 8:00pm. Eligible players: 7th/8th grade and must be 14 or under on April 30, 2024. We will play in MMPL League lower division 2024. All-Star teams will also play 1-2 community based tournaments.Sign in 15 minutes before tryouts. Make date tbd.

Please read the below information concerning the 2024 SJYBA travel and All-Star softball programs.

 The Mason softball league has decided to follow the new USA Softball age deadline and will be adjusting their age cutoff from December 31 to September 1.  What this means is that if your daughter is 10 years of age on September 1 or after of this year (2023), she is eligible to play an additional year of 10U softball in 2024. The same goes for the 12u and 14u age divisions. This age change will only affect the St. Johns travel softball teams. All recreation teams will follow the current age/grade cutoffs. Please note, that students who have completed their freshman year of high school are not eligible to play for St. Johns youth teams. 

• Tryouts for 2024 12U and 14U Travel Softball and All-star teams will be Sunday, August 27 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Feldpausch Fields, field E. If you want to be considered for a team, you MUST attend one of the tryouts.
• Tryouts for 2024 10U Travel Softball will be Sunday, August 27 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at Feldpausch Fields, field E and on Sunday, September 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Feldpausch Fields, field D. If you want to be considered for a team, you MUST attend one of the tryouts. Girls interested in trying out for the 10U travel team must be 8 years of age on or before September 1, 2023.
